Our research group’s current interest in jet fuels involves these main areas:
(1) On-site on-demand generation of hydrogen from military logistics fuel, JP-8
(2) Novel gas processor development for ultra purification of hydrogen, produced from jet fuel and diesel reformation
(3) Development of alternate sources of jet fuel from crop oil (not via transesterification)
(4) Upgrading of shale oil for jet fuel formulation
(5) Fischer-Tropsch synthesis for jet fuel formulation
(6) Conversion of DME to jet fuel hydrocarbons in connection with single stage DME (from syngas)
The first project had been funded by the U.S. Department of Defense.
